Pada tahun 2021 PJSC "UEC-UMPO" atau biasa Kita kenal sebagai NPO Saturn, mempresentasikan seputar pengembangan mesin turbin generasi ke-6 untuk penempur siluman Sukhoi Su-57 Felon.
Dalam presentasi tersebut, pihak pengembang, yang juga dikenal sebagai biro desain "Scientific & Technical Reserve (научно-технического задела - НТЗ)", juga menampakan sebuah purwarupa dari "frame" atau desain mesin baru untuk Su-57.
Isinya kurang lebih adalah sebagai berikut:
"Перспективы разработки двигателя шестого поколения для истребителей.
В интернете СМИ где-то откапали и начали мусолить одну интересную презентацию ПАО "ОДК-УМПО" от 2021 года, посвящённую истории, текущему состоянию и перспективам развития газотурбинных двигателей на фирме. Собственно, всех заинтересовали именно слайды с перспективой, показывающие работы в рамках формирования научно-технического задела (НТЗ) по двигателям следующего поколения.
Для тех, кто не в курсе, поясним. НТЗ - это не вот прям завтра будет новый крутой движок. Это в первую очередь создание и отработка новых технологий, позволяющих в будущем создать новый двигатель. То есть это только первые шаги. Поэтому заявления журналистов о "новом двигателе шестого поколения для Су-57" выглядят как минимум забавно. Возможно следующие модификации Су-57 и увидят что-то подобное, но в целом это работа на ближайший десяток лет, не меньше.
Поэтому пожелаем разработчикам успехов в этом нелёгком деле."
